When do I need to replace the Xiaomi scooter brake lever?
Here are the main reasons why you may need to replace the brake lever on your Xiaomi electric scooter:
Error 15 or Audible Signal (1 Long and 5 Short Beeps):
Some Xiaomi scooter models (e.g. 1S, Pro) show Error 15 on the dashboard when there is a problem with the brake handle sensor (Hall sensor). This sensor sends a signal when you press the knob. If the sensor fails, the brakes may not work or may not work properly.
Other Xiaomi models (e.g. m365) may beep 1 long beep and 5 short beeps instead of error code 15. This also usually indicates a problem with the brake lever sensor.Physical Damage: breakage, deformation (bending), severe wear and tear (e.g. loose screws, worn metal).
Braking Problems: stalling (knob jerks, hard to press, no return), weak braking (even after adjusting the cable/liner), looseness (knob sticks). Note: Check the cable, pads and disc first.
Preventive Replacement: after prolonged use/heavy wear, after an accident/fall, or to upgrade to a more comfortable/better quality handle.
